Greater Columbus Golf Authority

February 28, 2012



The meeting of the Greater Columbus Golf Authority was called to order by

President, Michael Silverstein at 4:00 p.m.



Those present: Jeff Blankenship, Dan Culpepper, Carl Williams. Aubry Burt, Rudy

Allen, Eddie Lindsey, Michael Silverstein and Ralph Huling

Absent: Rhudine Nelson - excused

There was a motion made by Carl Williams to accept the minutes from the January

2012 meeting; there was a second by Rudy Allen; the motion was unanimously

approved.



Superintendent?s Report:



Greens- Some wind burn on greens due to extreme warm from the cold days;

spraying twice weekly with fertilizer and iron to correct any ongoing problems.

Fairways and tees - applying weed control and will start fertilizing around

Easter.

Cost of the fertilizer has gone from $15.60 per bag to $23.00 per bag.

The restroom at the number 11 tee on the West course is stopped up due to roots

having penetrated the septic tank; new pipe is being installed and the problem

will be corrected.

The water fountain shed has been repainted; continuing to remove dead trees;

adding sand and edging the bunkers; edging cart paths and removing tree limb

piles as time and resources permit



New Business:



Director of Golf John Milam has been invited to staff meetings with The Mayor

and Isaiah Hugley. The Authority agreed that this would be very beneficial by

creating a more fluid dialogue with our city leaders.



Our meeting in March will be held at Oxbow Creek Golf Course.



After discussion regarding the Marshals and the need to revisit their

pay-for-play arrangement a motion was made by Dan Culpepper and seconded by

Carl Williams to institute the following changes:



18 holes w/cart for $3.00

9 holes w/cart for $2.00

Saturdays, Sundays and holidays Marshals will pay a full cart fee. Guests of

Marshals will pay full price at all times. City employees both active and

retired will pay a cart fee and guests full price. Authority members will

continue to pay the same fees as before and their guests will pay full price.

The motion passed unanimously ? there will be a 30 day notification prior to

implementing the new policy.



Old Business:



Michael Silverstein provided a quick update on the marketing blueprint being

developed by CSU in conjunction with Jack Brennan. We are waiting on an update,

which we should receive from Dr. Richard Baxter the week of March 5th.



Michael Silverstein and John Milam updated the Authority of the recent emails

and respective correspondence going back and forth between Jack Langford, the

Mayor, Isaiah Hugley, the Council members and the Authority. The Authority

unanimously agreed that there was no additional communication needed at this

time.

Bull Creek Revenue last year $716,000.00

Revenue this year $753,000 Up 5%

Expenses down 11% from last year



Oxbow Creek Revenue last year $130,000.00

Revenue this year $145,000.00

Expenses down 4%

Godwin Creek - no report available



There being no further business to come before the Authority a motion was made

to adjourn the meeting by Jeff Blankenship and seconded by Ralph Huling. The

meeting adjourned at 5:10 p.m.
