A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, NeighborWorks Columbus? Annual Campaign will focus this year on the
Columbus Cottage Program;
WHEREAS, the Columbus Cottage Program will assist 6-10 residents that are in
danger of becoming homeless;
WHEREAS, current substandard homes will be demolished and cottage homes will be
built on the same lots of the owners;
WHEREAS, cottages are set up as a life estate for seniors and after their
death, the cottages revert to the Columbus Cottage Program and are used for
other elderly, low-income individuals;
WHEREAS, one such person receiving a cottage is SSG (Ret.) Joseph Hubanks; Mr.
Hubanks served in the army for over twenty-two years, fought in the Korean and
Vietnam Wars, and worked as a mechanic at Dew?s Service Station after retiring
from the service;
WHEREAS, SSG Hubanks was presented with the keys to his new home on October 6,
2010;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Cathy Williams, CEO & President of
NeighborWorks Columbus, Columbus Cottage Program and SSG (Ret.) Joseph Hubanks
are worthy of special recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Cathy Williams, CEO & President of
NeighborWorks Columbus and SSG (Ret.) Joseph Hubanks upon their participation
in the Columbus Cottage Program. Columbus is proud of their accomplishments and
we wish them every success in the future. Let a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to Cathy Williams, CEO & President of NeighborWorks Columbus,
Columbus Cottage Program and SSG (Ret.) Joseph Hubanks.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
12th day of October, 2010, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote
