Agenda Item # 1

Columbus Consolidated Government

Council Meeting

09/22/2015

Agenda Report # 30

TO: Mayor and Council

SUBJECT: Site License Agreement

INITIATED BY: Donna Newman, Department of Engineering

Recommendation: Authorize the City Manager to enter into a facility license

agreement with Trimble Navigation Limited (Trimble) for installation and

operation of a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for a five year period.

Background: The City was approached by Trimble to install and operate a

GNSS at the City's Annex facility in exchange for two Virtual Reference Station

(VRS) licenses for exchange for use of the facility and access to internet

service and power. The contract will be for one year with automatic renewal

for four successive years.

Analysis: Implementation of this system will improve the accuracy of the GPS

data that is currently being collected and used by the City for inclusion into

the GIS system. It will also be available to other outside entities for use in

the area.

Financial Considerations: The City will be responsible for internet service

and power supply( approximately average of 60 watts). The estimated value of

this type license is $1650 per year per license.

Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: This will have minimum impact to the

annual operating budget.

Legal Considerations: All License Agreements require Council approval.

Recommendations/ Actions: Authorize the City Manager to enter into a facility

license agreement with Trimble Navigation Limited (Trimble) for installation

and operation of a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for a five year

period.
