WHEREAS, Gloria Weston-Smart, Executive Director of Keep Columbus Beautiful,
has been named as the Executive Director of the Year by the Keep Georgia
Beautiful Foundation;
WHEREAS, the award is named in honor of Barbara Mason, who dedicated her life
to preserving the environment and establishing the Keep America Beautiful (KAB)
system in Georgia and the United States;
WHEREAS, the award recognizes an affiliate leader with an established record of
success and is awarded only once in a Director?s career;
WHEREAS, Ms. Weston-Smart has been a loyal advocate for Keep Columbus
Beautiful, KAB and the Columbus community for fourteen years;
WHEREAS, she has worked tirelessly to forge partnerships with the Columbus
Water Works, the Coca Cola Company and other organizations which encourage
beautification, recycling and preservation of our natural resources;
WHEREAS, she has attended legislative sessions of the Georgia General Assembly
as well as court hearings to ensure that the beautification projects along
right-of-way in Columbus, including I-185, are protected and preserved;
WHEREAS, she teaches to classes to young and old on the benefits of recycling
and litter prevention and has hosted her own CCG-TV show, ?Earth Notes?;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Gloria Weston-Smart, Executive Director of Keep
Columbus Beautiful, are worthy of special recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Gloria Weston-Smart, Executive Director of
Keep Columbus Beautiful upon being named the Executive Director of the Year by
the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation. The Columbus community is more beautiful
because of her hard work and dedication and we wish her continued success in
the future. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Gloria
Weston-Smart.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held the
7TH day of January, 2014 and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
