MINUTES # 32-11
The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Monday, August 29, 2011 at
9:00AM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessor Ann Grantham, Assessor Pat
Hunter and Assessor Derrick Shields present. Also present was Chief Appraiser
Betty J. Middleton.
Assessor Derrick Shields made a motion to approve Min#31-11. Assessor Ann
Grantham seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Met with Commercial Division Manager Linda King, reviewed and approved the
following:
Multiyear Map Splits: 2
The Board reviewed and signed the letter to the Development Authority regarding
bonds prepared by Com Div Mgr Linda King. Chairman Lawton Grantham requested
Com Div Mgr Linda King to do a summary of all real estate and personal property
bonds, oldest to the newest.
Met with Personal Property Division Manager Oliver Juhan, reviewed and approved
the following:
Appeals: 1(-)
Assessment Corrections: 1(-)
1(+)
Pers Prop Div Mgr briefed the Board of his meetings with Pratt-Whitney and is
working toward a resolution by the date set by the Board of Equalization.
Chief Appraiser Betty Middleton presented two requests for non-taxability for
personal property. After reviewing the application for account # L1329001 and
staff?s recommendation; Assessor Pat Hunter made a motion to grant tax exempt
status for 2011; Assessor Derrick Shields seconded it; motion carried. The
Board also reviewed the application for non-taxability for account # L1408601
and staff?s recommendation. Assessor Pat Hunter made a motion to grant tax
exempt status for 2011; Assessor Derrick Shields seconded it; motion carried.
