AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE OFFICIAL STREET AND TAX MAPS OF THE
CONSOLIDATED GOVERNMENT OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA BY DECLARING A SEGMENT OF LEVY
ROAD TO INCLUDE RIGHT-OF-WAY SURPLUS FROM THE NORTHWEST RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF
MELRICH AVENUE NORTHWEST A DISTANCE OF 660? MORE OR LESS; DECLARING A SEGMENT
OF ELVAN AVENUE TO INCLUDE RIGHT-OF-WAY SURPLUS FROM THE EAST RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE
OF VICTORY DRIVE TO THE WEST LINE OF LEVY ROAD; PROVIDING THAT ALL EXISTING
UTILITY EASEMENTS OF RECORD SHALL REMAIN IN EFFECT; PROVIDING APPROPRIATE WIDTH
EASEMENTS SHALL BE RESERVED AS REQUIRED BY THE UTILITY COMPANIES SERVING
ADJOINING STREETS AND PROPERTIES FOR UNKNOWN UTILITIES; AUTHORIZING THE
DISPOSAL OF SAID RIGHT-OF-WAY IN ACCORDANCE WITH COLUMBUS CHARTER; REPEALING
ANY CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I.
That the ?Official Street Map, Consolidated Government of Columbus,
Georgia of Section 18.1 of the City Code? and appropriate Tax Maps are hereby
amended by deleting the following segment of Levy Road:
The existing improved road and right-of-way segment beginning at the
intersection of the west right-of-way line of Levy Road and the north
right-of-way line of Melrich Avenue and running northwesterly along Levy Road a
distance of 660? more or less depicted on the boundary/topographic survey of
the property of Housing Authority of Columbus, Orbie A. Faircloth, Robert J.
Lee and Development Authority of Columbus, Georgia, Land Lots 8, 9, 13, and 14,
7th Land District, Muscogee County, Columbus, Georgia by Survey Matters, LLC
Land Surveying Services date May 9, 2014 and made part of this ordinance by
reference.
SECTION II.
That the ?Official Street Map, Consolidated Government of Columbus,
Georgia of Section 18.1 of the City Code? and appropriate Tax Maps are hereby
amended by deleting the following segment of Elvan Avenue:
The existing improved road and right-of-way segment beginning at the
east right-of-way line of Victory Drive and running easterly to the west
right-of-line of Levy Road as depicted on the boundary/topographic survey of
the property of Housing Authority of Columbus, Orbie A. Faircloth, Robert J.
Lee and Development Authority of Columbus, Georgia, Land Lots 8, 9, 13, and 14,
7th Land District, Muscogee County, Columbus, Georgia by Survey Matters, LLC
Land Surveying Services date May 9, 2014 and made part of this ordinance by
reference.
SECTION III.
That the road segment and right-of-way described here within Sections I
and II is no longer needed for roadway purposes. Said segment of right-of-way
is hereby declared surplus and authorized for disposal in accordance with the
Columbus Charter.
SECTION IV.
Providing that all existing utility easements of record shall remain in
effect and providing appropriate width easements shall be reserved as required
by the utility companies serving adjoining streets and properties for unknown
utilities.
SECTION V.
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this
ordinance are hereby repealed.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia
held on the ____ day of _______, 2014; introduced a second time at a regular
meeting of said Council held on the _____ day of ________, 2014 and adopt at
said meeting by the affirmative vote of _____ member of Council.
