Whereas, Teen Advisors, Inc. is a nationally-recognized peer mentoring

organization that was founded here in Columbus, Georgia in 1987;

Whereas, locally, there are 507 student participants from 16 different middle

schools & high schools this year;

Whereas, students involved in the program sign a contract to remain drug,

alcohol, and tobacco-free, and commit to set an example of solid moral

character for other students;

Whereas, this past year, Teen Advisors had a direct impact in the lives of over

5300 teenagers in the Columbus area;

Whereas, the main venue for student-to-student impact occurs in the classroom,

during the school day, where older students discuss with younger students the

various pressures and decisions that teenagers face today;

Whereas, Teen Advisors create an atmosphere of positive peer pressure among

their fellow students within their schools;

Whereas, the newest Teen Advisor program recently started at Carver High

School; and the goal of Teen Advisors is to have a dynamic Teen Advisor program

in every middle school & high school in Columbus;

Whereas, Teen Advisors has involved over 3500 students from the Columbus area

during the past 18 years and has succeeded in directly impacting over 30,000

younger students in Columbus-area schools during that time;



WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Teen Advisors are worthy of special recognition

by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:

We hereby commend the students, staff, & volunteers of Teen Advisors, Inc., and

congratulate them upon their continued efforts to improve the quality of life

for teenagers in the Columbus community. Let a copy of this resolution be

forwarded to Teen Advisors.
