MINUTES # 46-06
The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Wednesday, December 6,
2006, at 2:00PM with Chairman William Braxton, Assessors Lawton E. Grantham
Jr., Richard Stallings, and Pat Hunter present. Also present was Chief
Appraiser Betty J. Middleton. Assessor Ann Grantham was excused.
Assessor Richard Stallings made a motion to approve Minutes # 45-06, Assessor
Lawton E. Grantham seconded the motion, motion carried unanimously
The Board approved assessment corrections for real estate.
Met with Mr. Litton representing Upatoi Baptist Church requesting
non-taxability for property located at 13450 Macon Rd (Parcel ID 146 009 011).
Mr. Litton said the property is for paintball ministry. He said they meet on
the first Saturday of each month at 10:00AM, review safety rules, having a
short bible reading and prayer. He said the games begin at 10:30AM and last to
late afternoon. He said they also provide lunch. Assessor Lawton Grantham made
a motion to grant tax exemption for the year 2007; Assessor Pat Hunter seconded
the motion, motion carried.
Mr. Willis had an appointment with the Board of Tax Assessors; however, did not
appear (personal property account # 05707401).
The Board continued discussion regarding account # 05031301; however, tabled it
for next week?s meeting.
Chief Appraiser Betty Middleton and Com Div Chief Linda King gave a power point
presentation on ?Error and Relief Procedures? to the Board of Tax Assessors.
Met with Commercial Division Chief Linda King, reviewed and approved the
following:

Met with Personal Property Division Chief Oliver Juhan, reviewed and approved
the following:
Assessment Corrections: 7(-)

The Board also approved the mobile home pricing schedules for the 2007 values.

The Board met with Pers Prop Div Chief Oliver Juhan and Com Div Chief Linda
King to review potential bond letters for the Development Authority and
approved four.
The Board of Tax Assessors gave the Board Secretary Betty Middleton
authorization to sign any subpoenas when needed to get information for
valuations and also to meet with the City Attorney for opinions on legal
matters.
