Please put in Councilors' packages.
Dear Ms. Tomlinson:
I want to congratulate you and the city of Columbus for the construction and
opening of the new recycling center. My family and I visited this facility to
find it impressive in its functional design, reflecting a well-planned and
important mission. There is no question that to recycle what we dispose of so
readily is a matter of urgency in world that has its limitations.
It is very comforting to know that our city is acting responsibly as well as
efficiently, attentive to both sensitive needs and practical concerns.
I like to thank you personally and all those involved in the planning and
execution of this valuable service to our community. This is an example of the
merit of having a well-focused vision and an example of good government.
On the practical side, to reduce refuse collection to once a week makes good
financial sense and should be quite manageable for us citizens. A twice weekly
pick-up schedule is neither necessary nor all that economic.
Let me also add that our city government should make a greater effort to
educate our citizenry regarding the importance of recycling. The
Ledger-Enquirer should do a series on this topic and showcase our cutting-edge
recycling center.
Thank you. Wishing you well,
Mario R. Mion
