SUBJECT: Acquisition of Property ? 1026 Fort Benning Road

Recommendation: Approval is requested to purchase property at 1026 Fort

Benning Road a/k/a 064 029 004 in the Enterprise Zone in Columbus, Muscogee

County, Georgia (see attached map).



Background: The property has been in the possession of the owner sine May

1988 and consists of 0.3 +/- acres in the Enterprise Zone. This property is

adjacent to properties consisting of approximately 35 +/- acres that have been

assembled by the City for redevelopment in the Enterprise Zone.



Analysis: The property is needed to continue the assemblage of property for

redevelopment in the Enterprise Zone.



Financial Considerations: The purchase price of the property has been

appraised at $26,500. The funding for the purchase will be funded with 1999

SPLOST- Enterprise Zone funds. A Warranty Deed will transfer the

property.



Legal Considerations: Council must approve the purchase of real estate.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the attached resolution authorizing the

purchase of property at 1026 Fort Benning Road a/k/a 064 029 004 in the

Enterprise Zone in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF PROPERTY AT 1026 FORT BENNING

ROAD/K/A TAX MAP 069 029 004, IN COLUMBUS, MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GEORGIA.



WHEREAS, the property is 0.3 +/- acres in the Enterprise Zone; and,



WHEREAS, the property is adjacent to other properties owned by the City and is

needed for redevelopment in the Enterprise Zone; and,



WHEREAS, it had be determined that the price of $26,500 is fair and equitable;

and,



WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus,

Georgia to purchase said property.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS

FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to purchase 1026 Fort Benning Road

a/k/a Tax Map 064 029 006 in the Enterprise Zone for the purchase price of

$26,500. The funding for the purchase will be funded with 1999 SPLOST-

Enterprise Zone funds.
