Council Meeting

December 8, 2015

Agenda Report # 58

TO: Mayor and Council

SUBJECT: Military Generator Acceptance

INITIATED BY: Columbus Fire and EMS Department

Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into an Inter-Governmental

Agreement with the Georgia Forestry Commission to enable the Columbus Dept. of

Fire/EMS to accept two (2) military grade 15 KW portable generators to be

utilized for emergency operations.

Background: The Columbus Dept. of Fire/EMS has been selected by the Georgia

Forestry Commission to receive two (2) surplus military grade 15 KW portable

generators. The value of this equipment is approximately $41,000.

The generators are military surplus material and will be utilized to provide

portable power at emergency scenes to power lights and other electrical

emergency response equipment.

Analysis: The Georgia Forestry Commission is providing the generator. The City

of Columbus and the Department of Fire and EMS will have to agree to the terms

of the provided Inter Agency Agreement.

Financial Considerations: There is a $100.00 transfer fee for each generator

for a total cost of $200.00 and the funds are currently available in the Fire

and EMS FY 2016 Budget.

Legal Considerations: The Columbus Consolidated Government is required to

adhere to the Agency requirements of the IGA. See attached draft.

Recommendation/Action: Approval is requested to enter into the

Inter-Governmental Agreement and to approve the receipt of the generators.
