A RESOLUTION

No.



WHEREAS, the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center at Patriot Park was

opened on June 19, 2009;



WHEREAS, the opening of the $91 million complex is the result of countless

hours of work by National Infantry Foundation volunteers and board members,

particularly General Jerry White, Mr. Ben Williams and Mr. Greg Camp;



WHEREAS, approximately 4,000 citizens, soldiers and visitors attended the grand

opening of the National Infantry Museum and basic training graduation on the

parade field prior to the opening;



WHEREAS, former Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff

Colin Powell addressed the crowd at the opening ceremony and gala;



WHEREAS, visitors were met by infantryman dressed in authentic uniforms from

various periods in U.S. history including the Revolutionary War;



WHEREAS, the National Infantry Museum is a jewel in a long line of fabulous

U.S. military museums;



WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the National Infantry Foundation, its many

volunteers and board members, and the Ft. Benning community are worthy of

special recognition by this Council.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby commend and congratulate the National Infantry Foundation upon the

grand opening of the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center at Patriot

Park. Columbus is truly proud of this new landmark and we wish to express

our deep appreciation for work done by countless volunteers to bring the

project to completion. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to General

Jerry White, Mr. Ben Williams and Mr. Greg Camp.

14th day of July, 2009, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
