A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, veterans have approached the Columbus Council and noted the absence of
a Veterans Administration Center in Columbus;
WHEREAS, VA Centers provide readjustment counseling and outreach services to
combat veterans and is expanding into 23 new communities across the nation in
the next two years;
WHEREAS, the Macon, Georgia area is scheduled to receive a VA Center
and Columbus has more veteran residents than any other area in Georgia;
WHEREAS, Georgia is in the top ten states with 757,000 veterans according to
the Uniform Services Journal March/April (NAUS);
WHEREAS, this Council desires that our local congressional delegation do
everything in its power to procure funding for construction of a VA Center in
Columbus, Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby request that our local congressional delegation pursue funding for
the construction and operation of a Veterans Administration Center in Columbus,
Georgia. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to our local congressional
delegation.

15th day of May, 2007, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
