A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, Bernard E. ?Buster? Kite of Columbus died on August 22, 2005 at the
age of 85;
WHEREAS, Mr. Kite was known for playing Santa Claus since 1957 at local
nursing homes, including Pine Manor Nursing Home, and he continued to play this
role until his death;
WHEREAS, he was a veteran of World War II and saw action as a United States
Marine in the Pacific;
WHEREAS, as a grandparent, Mr. Kite served as PTA President at Jordan High
School and Britt David Elementary School;
WHEREAS, Mr. Kite?s contributions and joyful personality will be missed by so
many who knew and cared for him;
WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Mae Kite; daughters and sons-in-law,
Gloria and Tommy Sellars of Cramerton, Peggy and Doug Sagul of Columbus; one
brother, Wallace and Dot Kite of Fayetteville, Georgia; four sisters, Evelyn
Mobley, Marie and Richard Weems, Lucia and Billy Mathis, Edith and Bob Rasch,
all of Columbus and six grandchildren, Chris Bailey, Clint Hammond, Adam
Sellars, Emily Sellars, Austin Sagul and Nick Sagul.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby express our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family of
Mr. Bernard E. ?Buster? Kite. His service to the Columbus community and his
country will long be remembered. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
the family of Mr. Bernard E. ?Buster? Kite.

Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia held on the
11th day of April, 2006, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of
