SUBJECT: US 27/Custer Road Interchange Reconstruction/Modification -

Engineering Services



INITIATED BY: Planning Department





Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a contract with Wolverton

& Associates to prepare the final engineering plans for the US 27/Custer Road

Interchange Reconstruction/Modification Transportation Improvement Act project.



Background: The US27/Custer Road Interchange

Reconstruction/Modification is a Transportation Investment Act (TIA) project

that was approved by voters in July, 2012. The project will provide direct

access to property located at the intersection of US 27 (Victory Drive) and

I-185 for developing a business park.



Analysis: Approval will allow the city to move forward with necessary

engineering services needed for this project.



Financial Considerations: The contract amount for these services is $770,312,

and will be totally funded by the $20,000,000 TIA budget established for this

project.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There will not be any annual fiscal

impact to the city for this action.





Legal Considerations: The City Attorney has approved this action.



Recommendations/ Actions: Authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract

with Wolverton & Associates to prepare the final engineering plans for the US

27/Custer Road Interchange Reconstruction/Modification Transportation

Improvement Act project.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH WOLVERTON AND

ASSOCIATES FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT ACT

PROJECT U.S. 27/CUSTER ROAD INTERCHANGE RECONSTRUCTION/MODIFICATION.

WHEREAS, The U.S. 27/Custer Road Interchange Reconstruction/Modification is a

$20,000,000 Transportation Improvement Act project that was approved by the

voters on July 30, 2012; and,

WHEREAS, this project requires professional engineering services.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a agreement with

Wolverton and Associates for preparing the necessary engineering design and

plans for the Transportation Investment Act (TIA) project U.S. 27/Custer Road

Interchange Reconstruction/Modification. The amount of the contract is not to

exceed $770,312 and shall be paid for from the TIA budget established for this

project.
