SUBJECT: Cellphone Tower Lease Renewal - Golden Park ? 100 4th Street



INITIATED BY: Department of Community Reinvestment





Recommendation: Approval is requested to extend the lease agreement with SBA

Towers VI, LLC for the tower site located at 100 4th Street (Golden Park), in

Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia.



Background: SBA Towers currently has a lease agreement with the City for a

cell tower located at 100 4th Street (Golden Park). The current term pays

$6,900 per year to the City with the renewal period ending on May 31, 2019.

They have requested to exercise their option to renew for an additional

five-years through May 31, 2024 for an annual payment of $7,935 per year. The

final renewal period for this tower will expire on May 31, 2029.



Analysis: SBA Towers shall be solely responsible for all costs related to any

construction or maintenance activities it undertakes on this tower at no cost

to the City. This lease renewal will provide additional revenue to the City.



Financial Considerations: There will be an increase in the annual rent from

$6,900 to $7,935.



Legal Considerations: Any lease agreement involving the City requires Council

approval.



Recommendations/Actions: Approval is requested to renew the lease agreement

with SBA Towers VI, LLC for the tower site located at 100 4th Street, in

Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RENEW THE LEASE AGREEMENT WITH SBA

TOWER VI, LLC FOR THE TOWER SITE LOCATED AT 100 4TH STREET IN COLUMBUS,

MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GEORGIA.



WHEREAS, SBA Towers VI, LLC (?SBA?) currently has a lease agreement with the

City for a cell tower located at 100 4th Street; and,



WHEREAS, SBA has requested to extend that lease agreement by five (5)

additional years to May 31, 2024; and,



WHEREAS, SBA will increase the annual rent to $7,935 per year during the

five-year term.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to renew the lease agreement with

SBA Towers VI, LLC for the tower site located at 100 4th Street in Columbus,

Muscogee County, Georgia in accordance with the above-mentioned terms.
