THE GREATER COLUMBUS GOLF AUTHORITY

MINUTES OF MEETING

January 27, 2009

The Greater Columbus Golf Authority held the scheduled monthly meeting at Bull

Creek Golf Course. Members present were Nancy Wilkeson, Floyd Washington,

Aubry Burt, Rudy Allen, Rhudine Nelson, Rev. Willie Hill, Michael Silverstein

and Carl Williams. Richard Hagler had an excused absence. Staff members

present were John Milam and Steve Brown.

Minutes of the October 28, 2008 meeting were approved as presented. Motion

made by Michael Silverstein and seconded by Rudy Allen. There were no meetings

held in November and December 2008.

Old Business

Mr. Milam presented the 2007-2008 year end report. Bull Creek had $1.4 million

in revenues and expenses were $1.347 million. Oxbow Creek had $365,000 in

revenues and $440,000 in expenses. Oxbow Creek?s has had the same losses for

the past five years.

New Business

The mayor of Columbus has proposed a 2-3% pay raise for all city employees.

Mr. Milam has told our employees at Bull Creek and Oxbow Creek not to expect

any raise this year. The budget FY10 is due on February 9, 2009 and no new

hires will be considered and no raises will be approved.

Godwin Creek is struggling financially. Their programs will begin in February

for the middle school students. Mr. Milam has proposed a spring tournament

held at Bull Creek to raise funds for The First Tee. Mr. Milam will ask other

local golf courses to host a fund-raising tournament as well.

Earlier this month, Bull Creek received new leased golf carts. The lease

amount is $46 per cart per month. This figure has not increased in the last

five years. Rev. Hill asked Mr. Milam about the electric carts Bull Creek was

considering. The warranties for the electric carts require more vigil

maintenance than gas carts. A set of new battery runs approximately $1000 per

cart.

Columbus State University will have a grand opening on Thursday, January 29th

at 11:00 am. All are invited. They have made $80,000 in improvements to the

teaching facility.

Superintendent Report by Steve Brown

For the past three months, the maintenance department has removed the dead

trees, cleaned the wood lines, edge the cart paths, applied winter weed control

and rebuilt the reels. Painting the greens with iron has been applied.

Maintenance will continue to work on the bunkers, repaint trash can holders and

repaint tee markers. The city has poured a concrete slab (30x30) for a storage

bin to be built in the near future that will hold fertilizer and other

supplies. A sand bin will be constructed off the ground to keep the sand from

being contaminated at an approximate cost of $9500.

Godwin Creek

No report.

Director of Golf

Bull Creek and Oxbow Creek revenues have decreased significantly from December

compared to the same time last year. Revenues are also down for both course

through January 9th compared to the same time last year. The cold temperature

and mostly the rain on the weekends has been the main reason for the decline.

Expenses for YTD 08 Bull Creek and YTD 08 Oxbow Creek are down compared to the

YTD 07.

Rhudine Nelson adjourned the meeting at 4:18 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Wilkeson, Secretary
