SUBJECT: Donation of Gazebo for the Fall Line Trace



INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation







Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept a gazebo donated by an

anonymous donor for the Fall Line Trace at the Psalmond Road entrance.



Background: In a meeting with the Parks and Recreation Director, a

citizen expressed a desire to donate a gazebo to the Parks and Recreation

Department (the City). The citizen purchased said gazebo at a cost of $6,500

from Action Building who will deliver the gazebo at no cost to the City. The

donor has requested that there is no public attention to their name so they

will remain anonymous at this time.



Analysis: The citizen has expressed a desire to put the gazebo on the Fall

Line Trace at the Psalmond Road entrance. This site has been inspected by

Parks and Recreation personnel and found to be an adequate spot for the

gazebo.



Financial Considerations: This will be at no cost to the City as it is a

private donation.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: Regular maintenance and repairs to

the equipment.



Legal Considerations: Council must approve the acceptance of this donation.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the donation of a gazebo for the Fall Line

Trace, Psalmond Road entrance.







A RESOLUTION

NO. _____



A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION OF A GAZEBO FROM AN ANONYMOUS

DONOR TO BE USED ON THE FALL LINE TRACE PSALMOND ROAD ENTRANCE.



WHEREAS, in a meeting with the Parks and Recreation Director, a citizen

expressed pleasure with the Parks and Recreation Department and a desire to

give back to the department and the City. The citizen asked for no name

recognition for this donation and therefore will be an anonymous donor. In

this meeting, the citizen expressed desire to donate a Gazebo to be used at the

Psalmond Road entrance to the Fall Line Trace; and,



WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation staff have determined that this would be a

good location for the gazebo and will be both aesthically pleasing and useful

for the citizens of Columbus; and,



WHEREAS, the citizen paid Action Building the sum of $6,500.00 for the

gazebo and will be of no cost to the City; and,



WHEREAS, Action Building will deliver the gazebo to the Psalmond Road

entrance of the Fall Line Trace also at no cost to the City.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept a gazebo donated

by an anonymous donor that will be placed at the Psalmond Road entrance of the

Fall Line Trace.
