SUBJECT: Lease Agreement - Columbus Sports Council

INITIATED BY: Community Reinvestment Division Manager

Recommendation: Approval is requested to authorize the City Manager to enter

into a new Lease Agreement with the Columbus Sports Council for five additional

years for use of office space at Golden Park.

Background: The Columbus Sports Council is the responsible entity for

promotion of sporting events in Columbus, Georgia. Their activities require the

need for office space to adequately carry out their responsibilities.

The current lease was approved by Council on September 28, 2010 per Resolution

#333-10. The current lease term is expired and this is a request to enter into

a new lease agreement for an additional five years. The lease agreement will

Columbus Sports Council will be required to vacate the building within 60 days.

Analysis: The Columbus Sports Council has been leasing this office space at

Golden Park since September 2010. The lease terms will remain the same, and

should the City need possession of the building for any purpose, the Columbus

Sports Council will be required to vacate the building within 60 days. The

Columbus Sports Council is responsible for the full upkeep of the interior of

the building to include payment of cable, internet, telephone and alarm system,

and the cleaning of the building for the duration of the lease.

Financial Considerations: The Columbus Sports Council will pay $1 per year for

the use of the office space for 5 years.

Legal Considerations: Any lease agreement involving the City requires Council
