A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE OFFICIAL STREET AND TAX MAPS OF THE CONSOLIDATED
GOVERNMENT OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA BY DECLARING A SEGMENT OF 30TH STREET
RIGHT-OF-WAY SURPLUS; THE SEGMENT OF RIGHT-OF-WAY BEGINNING AT THE EAST
RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF 1ST AVENUE AND RUNNING EASTWARD TO THE WEST RIGHT-OF-WAY
LINE OF 2ND AVENUE AS DEPICTED ON A COPY OF A SURVEY DRAWING PREPARED BY MOON,
MEEKS, MASON & VINSON, INC. ENTITLED ?SURVEY OF 30TH STREET? AND DATED MARCH
11, 2016; SAID DRAWING HIGHLIGHTING SAID RIGHT-OF-WAY BEING MADE PART OF THIS
RESOLUTION BY REFERENCE; PROVIDING THAT ALL EXISTING UTILITY EASEMENTS OF
RECORD SHALL REMAIN IN EFFECT; PROVIDING APPROPRIATE WIDTH EASEMENTS SHALL BE
RESERVED AS REQUIRED BY THE UTILITY COMPANIES SERVING ADJOINING STREETS AND
PROPERTIES FOR UNKNOWN UTILITIES; AUTHORIZING THE DISPOSAL OF SAID RIGHT-OF-WAY
IN ACCORDANCE WITH COLUMBUS CHARTER ?7-501(4); AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I.
That the ?Official Street Map, Consolidated Government of Columbus,
Georgia? maintained in accordance with Section 18.1 of the Columbus Code and
appropriate Tax Maps are hereby amended by deleting the following segment of
30th Street:
All of that tract of parcel of land being all of 30th Street lying
between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue and being part of Land Lot 89, 8th District,
Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, and being more particularly described as
follows: BEGIN at an iron stake marking the intersection of the westerly line
of 2nd Avenue and the southerly line of 30th Street; thence North 89?03?26?
West along the southerly line of 30th Street for 279.37 feet to an iron stake
on the easterly line of 1st Avenue; thence North 00?53?32? East along the
easterly line of 1st Avenue for 79.90 feet to an iron stake on the northerly
line of 30th Street; thence South 88?48?13? East along the northerly line of
30th Street for 279.34 feet to an iron stake on the westerly line of 2nd
Avenue; thence South 00?55?03? West along the westerly line of 2nd Avenue for
78.66 feet to an iron stake and the point of beginning. All the land described
above contains 0.508 acres.
SECTION II.
That the segment of right-of-way described here within Section I is no
longer needed for roadway purposes. Said segment of right-of-way is hereby
declared surplus and authorized for disposal by the City Manager in accordance
with the Columbus Charter ?7-501(4).
SECTION III.
That all existing utility easements of record shall remain in effect
and providing appropriate width easements shall be reserved as required by the
utility companies serving adjoining streets and properties for unknown
utilities.
