A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, the Columbus Georgia Planning Department recently received an award at
the 2010 Georgia Planning Association (GPA) meeting held in Valdosta, Georgia;
WHEREAS, the department received the Outstanding Planning Document in a Large
Community Award for the recently adopted Historic Design Guidelines;
WHEREAS, MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc., Midtown Inc., Historic
Columbus Foundation, and other groups partnered with the Planning Department to
complete this document that will help protect the various historic districts in
the Columbus;
WHEREAS, the latest Historic Design Guidelines encompass the six newest
designated historic districts in Columbus and will help maintain the historical
character of theses districts;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Planning Department Director Rick Jones and his
staff are worthy of special recognition by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Planning Department Director Rick Jones and
his staff upon receipt of the Outstanding Planning Document in a Large
Community Award at the 2010 Georgia Planning Association meeting in Valdosta,
Georgia. Columbus is proud of their accomplishments and we wish them every
success in the future. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Director
Rick Jones.

11th day of January, 2011, and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote
