WHEREAS, Mr. Orvin R. Helton former employee with the Columbus Public Services,
died on November 18, 2008;
WHEREAS, Mr. Helton retired on May 1, 1993 after serving over 16 years with the
Columbus Public Services.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mr. Helton our sincere condolences and
deepest sympathy. Mr. Helton was an outstanding employee with the Columbus
Public Services and he will be missed by all who knew him.

WHEREAS, Mr. Fletcher Owens, Jr. former employee with the Columbus Public
Services, died on November 20, 2008;
WHEREAS, Mr. Owens retired on April 1, 1990 after serving 11 years with the
Columbus Public Services.
NOW, THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby convey to the family of Mr. Owens our sincere condolences and deepest
sympathy. Mr. Owens was an outstanding employee with the Columbus Public

Department, died on November 20, 2008;
WHEREAS, Mr. Neel retired on January 1, 1988 after serving 39 years with the
Columbus Police Department.

WHEREAS, Mr. McHargue retired on October 1, 1985 after serving 36 years with
the Columbus Fire Department.
