A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER (OR HIS DESIGNEE) TO APPLY FOR AND

ACCEPT A $250,000.00 (OR AS OTHER WISE AWARDED) NON-MATCHING HOMELAND SECURITY

CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROTECTION GRANT FROM THE GEORGIA OFFICE OF HOMELAND

SECURITY (AS SHOWN ON THE ATTACHED LIST), AND TO AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL

FUND BY LIKE AMOUNT. THE HOMELAND SECURITY CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROTECTION

GRANT SHALL RUN FOR A PERIOD OF TWO YEARS.



WHEREAS, the Homeland Security Critical Infrastructure Protection grant will be

utilized for critical infrastructure protection equipment and terrorism

prevention training; and,



WHEREAS, this Council finds that this Homeland Security Critical Infrastructure

Protection grant is needed for the prevention, deterrence, detection, and

response to the critical infrastructure, special events and other related or

possible terrorist events within the city of Columbus, and or surrounding area,

the interest of the consolidated government therein is to provide the citizens

of Columbus a secure Homeland through the acceptance and utilization of the

Homeland Security Critical Infrastructure Protection grant.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and if

approved accept a Homeland Security Critical Infrastructure Protection Grant

from the Georgia Office of the Homeland Security in the amount of $250,000 (or

as other wise awarded). Authorize to amend the Multi-Governmental fund by a

like amount
