RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) has caused the creation
of the Georgia Search and Rescue (GSAR) Teams as special regional response
teams comprised of qualified local public safety entities;
WHEREAS, these teams are supplied with appropriate equipment, training and
exercises to enable them to assist the State of Georgia or any Requesting Party
with GSAR personnel, equipment, facilities, services, supplies and other
resources during an emergency or disaster;
WHEREAS, Columbus, Georgia will be a Participating Party under the attached
Memorandum of Agreement along with other cities and counties capable of
performing emergency response.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby authorize the Mayor to sign the attached Memorandum of Agreement
provided by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA). Let a copy of this
resolution be forwarded to Fire and EMS Chief Jeff Meyer and GEMA.
