I. Call to order

Dr. Wise called the Columbus Board of Health to order at 1:00pm.

II. Approval of Minutes

Dr. Wise asked if there were any questions or comments on the previous minutes

received (March 25, 2015).

Dr. Wise asked for a motion to approve the minutes. A motion was made by Dr.

Chhokar seconded by Ms. Cathright and approved by all members present.

III. District Health Director?s Report

Dr. Wise offered support of the board during this trying time. It is

impossible to promote our profile with these issues.





Board was encouraged to spread the word about Public Health and talk with core

group of legislators.

IV. Financial Report

Dr. Wise called on Dr. Townsend to give the Director?s Report;

1. Dr. Townsend introduced new member to the Executive Staff, Tori Endres as

the new District Clinical and Nursing Director.

2. Columbus Health Department will be closed on Monday, April 27th in

recognition of state holiday.

3. All health departments in the district will be closed on Friday, May 8th for

In-service training for the staff.

4. Attended GPHA meeting earlier in the month along with Karon Bush.

5. We have experienced some computer issues, our VHN server has crashed and we

have reverted back to paper processing. A contingency plan is in place with

time slots allotted for utilization. This has impacted client services as

numbers are down in WIC. We have been in contact with Atlanta and they are

assisting to the best of their abilities.

6. Handout is provided in the notebooks ? Article from Albany Herald on Georgia

Public Health spending and the decrease funding per person spent of public

health over the years.



Dr. Wise called on Gwen Cunningham to present the financial report to the Board

in Ms. Strickland?s absence. Ms. Cunningham presented the following;

1. Correction to the February 2015 Overview

2. Written copy of the financial report and overview for FY15 budget is

$5,281,396 with three revisions.

3. Expenses were $3,569,033 with an increase of $150,984 at 67.58% which is

below the target of 75% for 9 months of operation.

4. Fees collected are $1,033,412 which is down from same time last year of

$142,797.

5. All other program grants are on target for 9 months of operation.

V. New Business Dr. Wise called open the floor for new business to be presented to the

Board.

1. Gwen Cunningham explained a new network is needed for the Computer system.

They are in conversation with a company who could begin work on May 15th with

an expected completion within 6 to 8 weeks. Expense is estimated at $148,000

for product, $6,000 for manpower and another $8 ? $10,000 for wiring.

2. Karon Bush presented a re-structuring project, with centralized check in and

clinic areas, except for WIC and DCS. Midtown Medical Center has approved the

structural changes and funding is available.

VI. Program Reports

Dr. Wise asked if there were any Program reports.



Kristi Ludy, County Environmental Health Manager

1. Provided Environmental Health numbers from the previous month.

2. Rabies clinic was a success the previous night, vaccinated 428 animals,

utilizing 2 vets



Brenda Forman, WIC Nutrition Manager

1. Initiative for Dr. Fitzgerald, Commissioner for Public Health ? Talk to your

Baby, began as WIC but now a State Public Health Awareness.

2. WIC on Wheels has slowed down due to the issues with VHN.



Pam Fair, Public Information Officer;

1. Safe Kids Day will be June 6th at Columbus Macon Road Library in conjunction

with Bike Rodeo.

2. Emergency Preparedness is updating the emergency contact directory. We will

be contacting you soon for your home and cell numbers. This information is not

public knowledge and is only published in the books which are kept is strategic

locations.



Sheila Mayfield, County Nurse Manager

1. National Immunization week is coming up.

2. School based flu clinic has finished. We saw 1068 clients and have begun

pre-enrollment for next school year.

3. Child fatality currently has grant for safe sleep and will be providing crib

displays within the clinics.

4. Immunization audits are underway.
