Police Department
I have reviewed our maintenance records for video equipment and see no unusual
issues. If there is a specific incident we can review please advise.
Major Stan Swiney
Marshal's Office
We have never had any problems with our video equipment.
Marshal Greg Countryman
Sheriff's Office
The Sheriff's Office, as you know had problems with the "screw-in" mics. The
twisting required to insert the mic plug frayed the inner wires creating a
short and no audio. We switched to a "plug-in" mic but continue to have some
problems with audio. The officers run the wire from the mic through their
uniform to the mic pack and in the course of normal duties (getting in and out
of the car....bending over) the plug will partially dislodge causing a loss of
audio. We have seen cases of officers on traffic stops with no audio bend over
and as pressure is put on the plug we get intermittent audio. We review all
video tapes on a regular basis. If it is determined that an officer failed to
properly activate the audio we take disciplinary action. However, if it is
accidential all we can do is remind them to keep a check on it. Hope this
information is of help. Sheriff Ralph B. Johnson
