A RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the speed limit on I-185 passing through Columbus, Georgia is

currently set at 55 miles per hour;



WHEREAS, this Council deems it appropriate to request the Georgia General

Assembly and the Department of Transportation to consider increasing the speed

limit to 65 miles per hour on certain sections of I-185 where standard road

designs allow 65 miles per hour.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:



We hereby request that the Georgia General Assembly and the Department of

Transportation consider increasing the speed limit on I-185 in

Columbus-Muscogee County from 55 miles per hour to 65 miles per hour where

standard road designs allow 65 miles per hour. Let a copy of this resolution be

forwarded to the local legislative delegation to the Georgia General Assembly

and to the Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Transportation.
