(A) ONE-MAN POTHOLE PATCHER - RFB NO. 07-0016
It is requested that Council authorize the purchase of one (1) one-man pothole
patcher from Reynolds-Warren Equipment Company (Lake City, GA), in the amount
of $136,197.00.
The pothole patcher is a replacement unit that will be used by the Street
Improvements Division of the Public Services Department to fill in potholes
throughout the City.
Specifications were posted on the City?s website; bid responses were received
on October 4, 2006 from three bidders. This bid has been advertised, opened
and reviewed. The bidders were:

(B) HYDRAULIC TRASH LOADER - RFB NO. 07-0005
It is requested that Council authorize the purchase of one (1) cab and chassis
from Bill Heard Chevrolet (Columbus, GA), in the amount of $57,292.00; and one
(1) hydraulic trash loader body from Consolidated Disposal Systems (Smyrna,
GA), in the amount of $34,850.00.
The hydraulic trash loader is a replacement unit that will be used by the Solid
Waste Collection Division of the Public Services Department to pick up limbs
and white goods set out by Columbus residents for curb side pick up.
Specifications were posted on the City?s website; bid responses were received
on September 6, 2006 from six bidders. This bid has been advertised, opened
and reviewed. The bidders were:

1 The bid submitted by Transpower does not meet specifications for the engine
warranty. The vendor has been notified in writing and given an opportunity to
respond.
2 Beck Motor Company submitted the next lowest, responsive bid. However, the
City?s local preference requires award to the local bidder whose bid is within
1% of the next, lowest responsive bidder. Therefore, Bill Heard Chevrolet is
recommended for bid award.

It is requested that Council authorize the purchase of two (2) 25-yard refuse
trucks and One (1) 16-yard refuse truck. Three (3) cab and chassis, for the
trucks, will be purchased from Beck Motor Company (Albany, GA), in the amount
of $247,203.00; and three (3) refuse bodies, for the trucks, will be purchased
from Consolidated Disposal Systems (Smyrna, GA), in the amount of $137,306.00.
The refuse trucks are replacement units that will be used by the Public
Services and Parks and Recreation Departments to pick up household garbage and
garbage in city owned parks and recreation centers.

Columbus Consolidated Government (the City) is seeking qualified consulting
firms to update the City?s Comprehensive Plan. The last update was completed
in 2003. The next update must be completed and approved by the Georgia
Department of Community Affairs no later than October 31, 2008.
