SUBJECT: Alley Quit Claim Deed - 7th and Hamilton Road
(The Fleming Sub-Division of The Russell Survey)

INITIATED BY: Department of Community Reinvestment
Recommendation: Approval is requested to execute a Quit Claim Deed for the
alleyway at the connection of Hamilton Road and 7th Avenue to Columbus
Healthcare Resources, Inc (CHR). The alleyway is located adjacent to all sides
of Columbus Healthcare Resources Inc.
Background: Columbus Healthcare Resources, Inc (an affiliate of Columbus
Regional Healthcare System) is requesting that the City execute a Quit Claim
Deed for all rights, title and interest the City may have in the alleyway at
the connection of Hamilton Road and 7th Street. Columbus Healthcare Resources,
Inc. upon conveyance and abandonment of said alleyway by the City, Columbus
Regional Healthcare System plans to construct a new parking lot to accommodate
the growth of their campus and improve the aesthetics of the intersection.

Analysis: The alleyway is located at the connection of Hamilton Road and 7th
Avenue in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia. Written confirmation has been
received from all public utilities stating there are no active utilities
located in this alleyway. The Engineering Department has examined the alleyway
and has no objections to abandoning the alleyway.
Financial Considerations: N/A
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: N/A
Legal Considerations: Council must approve the execution of a Quit Claim
Deed.
Recommendations/Actions: Authorize the City Manager to execute a Quit Claim
Deed to the Columbus Healthcare Resources, Inc. for the alleyway connection
between Hamilton Road and 7th Avenue in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia.

A RESOLUTION
NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A QUIT CLAIM DEED TO COLUMBUS
HEALTHCARE RESOURCES, INC. (CHR), FOR THE ALLEYWAY CONNECTING HAMILTON ROAD AND
7TH STREET IN COLUMBUS, MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GEORGIA.
WHEREAS, the City owns the alleyway connecting Hamilton Road and 7th Street, in
Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, and;
WHEREAS, the City has no present or future use of said alleyway, and;
WHEREAS, CHR wishes to include said alley and plans to use the abandoned
alleyway for additional parking lots, and;
WHEREAS, all public utilities have sent written confirmation stating they have
no use for this alleyway, and;
WHEREAS, the Engineering Department has checked the alley and approves
abandonment of said alleyway.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized by the Council of Columbus, to
execute said Quit Claim Deed in said alleyway, which are hereby abandoned. A
copy of said Quit Claim Deed is also hereto attached and by reference made a
part of this Resolution.
