Subject: Memorandum of Understanding Body Evolution Gym
Initiated By: Parks and Recreation Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement
with Body Evolution Gym wherein Body Evolution Gym will help maintain, promote
and raise money for funding to improve Theo McGhee Park located at 1140 Martin
Luther King Junior Boulevard, in partnership with the Parks and Recreation
Department.
Background: Body Evolution Gym has expressed a desire to help with a local
park to give back to the community. The park selected is Theo McGhee Park and
Body Evolution Gym will help maintain, promote and conduct fundraisers to raise
money to improve the park. The goal of Body Evolution Gym is to replace and/or
repair the existing playground destroyed by vandalism.
Analysis: This MOU will continue until midnight on April 31, 2019. Either
party may terminate this MOU upon 30 days advance written notice to the other
party.
Financial Considerations: The MOU will address all costs to the City.
Legal Considerations: Council must authorize the Memorandum of Understanding.
Recommendation: Approve the resolution authorizing execution of the Memorandum
of Understanding with Body Evolution to maintain, promote and raise funds to
upgrade/repair/replace items at Theo McGhee Park.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
WITH BODY EVOLUTION GYM WHEREIN BODY EVOLUTION GYM WILL HELP MAINTAIN, PROMOTE
AND HAVE FUNDRAISERS TO RAISE MONEY FOR THEO MCGHEE PARK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH
THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, The Body Evolution Gym is going to provide labor, materials and
associated costs with maintaining, promoting and fundraising for Theo McGhee
Park; and,
WHEREAS, members of Body Evolution Gym have expressed a desire to give back to
the Community through efforts of improving Theo McGhee Park; and,
WHEREAS, donations, upkeep, additions, improvements and maintenance of the park
will provide citizens in that area a park to utilize; and,
WHEREAS, entering into this Memorandum of Understanding will provide a
partnership that will bring about improvements to this park.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Memorandum of
Understanding with Body Evolution Gym wherein Body Evolution Gym will maintain,
upkeep, donate, promote and provide funds for the improvement of Theo McGhee
Park.
