SUBJECT: Quit Claim Property to Johnston Mill Lofts, L.P.
INITIATED BY: Community Reinvestment Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested to quit claim approximately .28 acres of
city-owned property located adjacent to Johnston Mill Loft Apartment to
Johnston Mill Lofts, L.P.
Background: The city was contacted in February 2018 by the legal counsel for
Johnston Mill Lofts, L.P. regarding property located adjacent to Johnson Mill
Loft Apartments that was mistakenly deeded to the City as a Deed of Gift by the
original developer. They are requesting that the City quit claim this property
back to the current owner. The portion that they are requesting is
approximately .28 acres located within 2 South Gordon Blvd (007 001 002), which
belongs to the city. A portion of their parking lot is located on this parcel.

Analysis: This request has been reviewed by the City?s Engineering Department
and it has been determine that quit claiming this portion of property back to
Johnston Mill Lofts, L.P. will not have any impact on the riverwalk. This
property is already being utilized as a parking lot by the Johnston Mill Loft
Apartments.
Financial Considerations: There will be no financial impact to the City as a
part of this transaction.
Legal Considerations: Council must approve all real estate transactions.
Recommendations: Approve a resolution to quit claim approximately .28 acres of
city-owned property located at 2 South Gordon Blvd. (007 001 002), which is
adjacent to Johnston Mill Loft Apartments, to Johnston Mill Lofts, L.P.
A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPROXIMATELY .28 ACRES OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY TO BE
QUIT CLAIMED TO JOHNSTON MILL LOFTS, L.P.
WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government owns the property located at 2
South Gordon Blvd (007 001 002); and,
WHEREAS, .28 acres of this parcel were mistakenly deeded to the City as a Deed
of Gift by the original developer of Johnston Mill Loft Apartments; and,
WHEREAS, Johnston Mill Lofts, L.P. has requested the City quit-claim this .28
acres back to them since a portion of their parking lot was constructed on it.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
The City Manager is authorized to quit claim approximately .28 acres of
city-owned property located at 2 South Gordon Blvd. (007 001 002) to Johnston
Mill Lofts, L.P.
