? Pop Austin (Will be the only ADA compliant playground in the city)

? Frank Chester and Britt David

We received two grants totaling $3500.00 for our Little Free Library Program.

This program is set about in different parks and areas and basically uses the

concept ?take a book, leave a book?.

certification this week.

Tommy Groce (Park Services): This past weekend we had BSC Softball

Tournament. We had great weather and everything went well.

This weekend we have Relay for Life at Memorial Stadium.

Sunday at South Commons.

email to provide his correct address. These changes will be made and new lists

will be given at our next meeting.

Special Olympics Invitational swim meet will be held at the Columbus Aquatic

Center on April 16th at 9:00 am. We have swim meets at the Aquatic Center on

the following dates:

James Worsley (Director): The Mayors Budget Letter went out and you can access

it on line. The Columbus Aquatic Center is our main issue. The Department is

scheduled for our budget meeting on May 12th at 1:00. The CAC Task Force has

been invited and this board is invited as well. The Task force will turn into

the CAC Commission and it will be a commission just like all of you.

We are offsetting the budget by implementing and increasing fees such as youth

league fees for $100 per team, Cooper Creek fee increases with a projected

revenue of $24,000 per year, Marina fees and Community Schools fees will also

be increased.

Discussion was held concerning the proposed fee increases and how it will

impact the department and citizens and different issues concerning the

increases. Concern about the proposed youth fees prompted Dr. Worsley to talk

about the letter that was sent to all concerned on April 18th.

Board Updates

Carl Brown: With all the sports events being brought in by the Sports Council,

where are we with the lawn mowers?

Dr. Worsley explained that in our FY17 budget, we are to receive no capital and

therefore will not be able to purchase mowers in that budget.

Open discussion was held with the board and staff about the Advisory Board role

and that of the Task Force.

Derrick Greene: Pop Austin is a very nice facility.

Andre Dye: Fall Basketball League went good. What are the plans for the

summer program?

Teresa Snellings will get back with him concerning summer league.

Mike Peacock: Besides the current parking situation, there are not enough

handicapped parking spaces. People are misusing the ones they have.

Dr. Worsley explained about the number of handicapped spaces required and that

we cannot add anymore. Also discussion was help about the continuing parking

situation.

Carl Brown spoke with Lisa Goodwin about parking and it is going to be an issue

with parking enforcement. Carl also noted to be careful at Lakebottom Park

because his car was stolen while he was running last Friday.

With no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned.

Our next meeting will be May 25th at Gallops Senior Center.

Meeting adjourned at 1:00
