SUBJECT: Donation for Flat Rock Park
INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept a donation of $2500.00 from
Columbus Disc Golf Club for the purchase of disc golf baskets and sleeves for
Flat Rock Park.
Background: Columbus Disc Golf Club has requested to make a donation to the
Parks and Recreation Department of the sum of up $2500. This money must be
used to help purchase 18 Prodigy Disc Golf Baskets and 3 sleeves for each
basket.
Analysis: Columbus Disc Golf Club has expressed a desire to donate $2500 to
Parks and Recreation to help purchase items needed for the Disc Golf Course at
Flat Rock Park.
Financial Considerations: The Parks and Recreation Department will split this
cost with the Columbus Disc Golf Club and will also pay approximately $2500
towards these items needed.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: None expected.
Legal: Council must approve the acceptance of this donation.
Recommendation: Approve the donation of up to $2500 from Columbus Disc Golf
Club for the purchase of 18 Disc Golf Baskets and 3 sleeves for each basket.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO APPROVE AND ACCEPT THE DONATION OF $2500
FROM COLUMBUS DISC GOLF CLUB TO HELP WITH THE COST OF 18 PRODIGY DISC BASKETS
AND THREE SLEEVES FOR EACH BASKET FOR USE AT FLAT ROCK PARK DISC GOLF COURSE.
WHEREAS, Columbus Disc Golf Club has a very active membership of nearly 100
players and the sport is growing at a fast rate; and,
WHEREAS, there are at least two Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA)
events at Flat Rock each year and there is a desire to bring more events to
this course; and,
WHEREAS, the Columbus Disc Golf Club has expressed a desire to partner with
Columbus Parks and Recreation to provide 18 new Prodigy Disc Golf Baskets and
three sleeves for each baskets; and,
WHEREAS, Columbus Disc Golf Club will donate $2500 to pay for half of the cost
of putting these amenities in Flat Rock Park; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to accept the
donation of a sum up to $2500 for half of the purchase Disc Golf Baskets and
sleeves for Flat Rock Park.
