MINUTES # 24-11
The Columbus, Georgia, Board of Tax Assessors met Monday, June 27, 2011 at
9:00AM with Chairman Lawton Grantham, Assessor Ann Grantham, Assessor Derrick
Shields and Assessor Scott Boyce present. Also present was Chief Appraiser
Betty J. Middleton. Assessor Pat Hunter was absent.
Assessor Ann Grantham made a motion to approve Min#23-11. Assessor Derrick
Shields seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Assessor Derrick Shields made a motion to excuse Assessor Pat Hunter; Assessor
Ann Grantham seconded the motion; motion carried.
The Board of Tax Assessors signed an assessment correction for real estate.
The Board reviewed a request for non-taxability for PID 018 018 001 for 2011.
Assessor Derrick Shields made a motion to grant tax exempt status for 2011;
Assessor Ann Grantham seconded the motion; motion carried.
Met with Commercial Division Manager Linda King, reviewed and approved the
following:
Multiyear Map Splits: 4
Com Div Mgr Linda King shared with the Board that her visit to Goodwill
Industries revealed Unit C and B2 are not used by Goodwill Industries Inc. and
the units are for sale or lease. Assessor Derrick Shields made a motion to deny
the requests for non-taxability for these properties for 2010; Assessor Scott
Boyce seconded the motion; motion carried. She also gave the Board a report on
bringing the commercial properties current. Also discussed IRB and potential
problem.
Met with Pers Prop Auditor Larry Dixon, reviewed and approved the following:
