SUBJECT: Fort Benning Enhancement Project
INITIATED BY: Planning Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested of a resolution authorizing the City
Manager to enter into a Supplemental Agreement with the Georgia Department of
Transportation to receive additional stimulus funding for the Fort Benning
Enhancement Project
Background: Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has agreed to fund an
additional $881,168.27 under the American Recovery and Reinvestment (ARRA)
funds, for the Fort Benning Enhancement project at I-185/Victory Drive
interchange. The initial contract was authorized for signature by the City
Manager under Resolution 295-09.
Analysis: This additional funding will provide for additional construction
needs associated with this project and will bring the total cost of the project
to $7,359,436.
Financial Considerations: These are ARRA or stimulus funds, and do not require
a local match.
Legal Considerations: Funds under this agreement cannot be spent until a
Notice to Proceed has been authorized by GDOT.
Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the resolution authorizing the City Manager
to enter into a supplemental agreement with the Georgia Department of
Transportation to receive additional stimulus funding for the Fort Benning
Enhancement Project

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT AMENDMENT
WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR ADDITIONAL AMERICAN RECOVERY
AND REINVESTMENT ACT FUNDS FOR FORT BENNING ENHANCEMENT PROJECT.
WHEREAS, Resolution 295-09 authorized the City Manager to enter a contractual
agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for the purposes
of providing landscaping improvements to the Fort Benning Enhancement project
at the I-185/Victory Drive interchange; and,
WHEREAS, GDOT has agreed to fund an additional $881,168.27 in American Recovery
and Reinvestment Act funds for this project, to provide increased landscaping
improvements for this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement amendment
to receive $881,168.27 from the Georgia Department of Transportation for the
purpose of funding the landscaping improvement under the Fort Benning
Enhancement Project.
