SUBJECT: Purchase of Property (315 and 325 Andrews Road)
INITIATED BY: Department of Community Reinvestment
Recommendation: Approval is requested for the acquisition of land consisting of
2.6 +/- acres on Tax Map 041 006 014 and 015 located at 315 and 325 Andrews
Road in the Enterprise Zone located in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia. (See
attached maps).
Background: The City owns 333 Andrews Road a/k/a Tax Map 041 006 016, property
in the Enterprise Zone consisting of 12.87 +/- acres (Formerly Hardaway Company
Properties). The City will enter into a sales contract to acquire the 2.6 +/-
acres of land fronting Andrews Road. The combined Andrews Road properties will
total 15.47 +/- acres and will be assembled by the City to promote development
in the Enterprise Zone area.
Analysis: The City owns 12.87 +/- acres adjacent to the 2.6 +/- acres of
property to be acquired. The City wishes to acquire the Andrews Road
properties to assemble and promote development of the Enterprise Zone area.
Financial Considerations: The properties at 315 and 325 Andrews Road were
appraised at $74,300. The agreed upon purchase price will be $70,000 for the
parcels. The purchase of the properties will be funded with 1999C - Enterprise
Zone Funds. A Warranty Deed will transfer the properties with all encumbrances
and liens being paid by the Seller.
Recommendation: Approve the attached Resolution to authorize the City Manager
to acquire the above-identified property.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACQUIRE 2 PARCELS CONSISTING OF
2.6 +/- ACRES ON TAX MAP 041 006 014 AND 015 LOCATED AT 315 AND 325 ANDREWS
ROAD FOR ASSEMBLAGE OF PROPERTIES IN THE ENTERPRISE ZONE LOCATED IN COLUMBUS,
MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GEORGIA.
WHEREAS, the City of Columbus is assembling properties along Andrews Road to
promote redevelopment of the Enterprise Zone area; and,
WHEREAS, the properties are available for sale; and,
WHEREAS, when assemblage is completed the City will own 15.47 +/- acres on
Andrew Road; and,
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the agreed upon price of $70,000 is fair
and equitable for the parcels; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus
Georgia to purchase the properties; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to acquire 314 and 315 Andrews Road
consisting of 2.6 +/-acres, for the assemblage of land to promote redevelopment
of the Enterprise Zone, at the agreed upon price of $70,000. The purchase of
this property will be funded with 1999C - Enterprise Zone Funds.
