SUBJECT: Street Acceptance - that portion of Townes Way located in

Section Two, The Townes at Sonoma Pointe



INITIATED BY: Engineering Department





Recommendation: Approval is requested for the acceptance of a deed to that

portion of Townes Way located in Section Two, The Townes at Sonoma Pointe.



Background: That portion of Townes Way located in Section Two, The Townes at

Sonoma Pointe has Seventeen (17) residential lots. The street has been improved

and has met the specifications for acceptance by the City.



Analysis: A deed has been conveyed to the City conveying that portion of

Townes Way located in Section Two, The Townes at Sonoma Pointe. A description

of property is as follows: That certain tract or parcel of land designated as,

and which is the extension of Townes Way, which commences approximately at a

point lying south of the iron pen located at the southeast corner of Lot 81,

Section Two, The Townes at Sonoma Pointe, lying in Land Lot 31, 9th District,

Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, running thence in a southwesterly direction

to the end of said Townes Way, as shown on that certain map or plat of survey

entitled "Section Two, The Townes at Sonoma Pointe, Part of Land Lots 31 & 34,

9th District, Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia" as prepared by Hobbs Smith &

Assoc., Inc., dated February 21, 2014, and recorded in Plat Book 164, Page 81,

in the Office of the Clerk of the Superior Court of Muscogee County, Georgia.



Financial Considerations: No City funds are involved until maintenance is

assumed after the two-year warranty.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: No City funds are involved until

maintenance is assumed after the two-year warranty.



Legal Considerations: In Accordance with Section 18-3 of the Columbus Code,

all dedicated right-of-way must be accepted by Council.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the acceptance of that portion of Townes Way

located in Section Two, The Townes at Sonoma Pointe.











A RESOLUTION

NO. _____

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DEED TO THAT PORTION OF TOWNES WAY

LOCATED IN SECTION TWO, THE TOWNES AT SONOMA POINTE ON BEHALF OF COLUMBUS,

GEORGIA.

WHEREAS, Columbus, Georgia has been submitted a deed conveying that portion of

Townes Way located in Section Two, The Townes at Sonoma Pointe, a full

description of property on said deed; and,

WHEREAS, said street has been improved and meets the required specifications

for acceptance by the City; and,

WHEREAS, the Engineering Department inspected said street and recommends

acceptance of same.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That certain deed dated March 14, 2014, conveying to Columbus, Georgia, that

portion of Townes Way located in Section Two, the Townes at Sonoma Pointe, be

and the same is hereby accepted. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized to

have said deed recorded in the Deed Records in the Office of the Clerk of

Superior Court of Muscogee County, Georgia. A copy is hereto attached and by

this reference made a part of this resolution.
