SUBJECT: Inspections & Codes Department - Reclassifications

Recommendation: Approve an ordinance reclassifying two positions in the
Inspections & Codes Department effective October 31, 2016.
Background: The Internal Audit Department performed a transition audit of the
Inspections & Codes Department and presented their findings and recommendations
to City Council on August 9, 2016. A revised organization chart was provided
to the auditors and the recommendations was made to reclassify two positions
within the department. The new director of the Inspections & Codes Department
concurs with the recommendation.
Analysis: The reclassification of a Permit Technician (G10A) to a
Communications Officer (G10A) is a title change only. The reclassification of
an Administrative Assistant (G12M) to Office Manager (G14A) provides for a
budgetary savings.
Financial Considerations: There is no financial impact from the
reclassifications.
Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: The reclassifications result in a
budgetary savings.
Legal Considerations: An ordinance is required to reclassify a position.
Recommendations/Actions: Approve an ordinance reclassifying two positions in
the Inspections & Codes Department effective October 31, 2016.
