Council Members

THE GREATER COLUMBUS GOLF AUTHORITY

MINUTES OF MEETING

May 27, 2008

The Greater Columbus Golf Authority held the scheduled monthly meeting at Bull

Creek Golf Course. Members present were Nancy Wilkeson, June Holder, Richard

Hagler, Rev. Hill, Donald Clack, Aubry Burt, Rudy Allen and Michael

Silverstein. Staff members present were John Milam and Steve Brown. Floyd

Washington had an excused absence.

Minutes of the March 25, 2008 meeting were approved as presented. Motion made

by Rev. Hill and seconded by Donald Clack. Minutes of the February 26, 2008

meeting and April 22, 2008 meeting were not presented. We suspended the

reading of those minutes until June?s meeting.

Old Business

The Columbus State University?s new teaching facility building was presented to

the authority members. The new building will sit on the site of the existing

building. CSU will obtain the proper building permits to begin construction.

There was some discussion regarding the color (bright blue) of the aluminum

siding. The bright blue/school color does not fit in with the rest of the

structures at Bull Creek. If CSU displays their logo and CSU lettering or

?Home of the Cougars? on the sides of the building, the authority members would

go along with the color. Richard Hagler asked for a motion to approve the

structure with the color proviso and lettering. Rev. Hill made the motion and

was seconded Aubry Burt. Motion passed.

New Business

With the rising cost of fuel and fertilizer, John Milam asked the authority

members to consider the following rate increases that will take effect July 1,

2008. All membership will increase 5%; cart fees will increase $1.00;

corporation fees will increase by $50.00 and Wednesday ?dollar day? will

increase by $5.00. It will be $15.00 to play nine holes with cart and $25.00

to play 18 holes with cart on Wednesdays. We will introduce a twilight rate

for Saturday afternoon play. The marshal/authority member rate will double on

weekends only. The above increases will bring in approximately $50,000

annually. A motion was made by Donald Clack to approve the adopted rates and

seconded by Michael Silverstein. Motion passed.

Superintendent Report by Steve Brown

Aerating the greens will begin next week on the west course. After the west

course is completed, Oxbow Creek?s course will be aerated and lastly the east

course at Bull Creek will be done. The mower height will be lowered on the

greens as growing conditions dictate. Donald Clack stated that the greens are

in great shape. The fairways are being watered three times weekly. The lake

levels at Bull Creek are in good shape. The fairways are being aerated in high

traffic areas to promote growth. Primo will be applied to the fairways. The

aprons around the green will also be aerated and fertilized. Sod will be

planted near the creek on three west and around the apron on 17 east. The

irrigation transfer pump needs to be repaired.

Godwin Creek

No report. Mr. Milam will request the financial report from Nan Hopkins.

Director of Golf

Oxbow Creek?s revenue from April 2008 is somewhat higher compared to April 2007

and the expenses are down as well. Oxbow Creek is approximately $8,000 behind

last year?s year-to-date figures. Through the 21st of May, Oxbow Creek?s

revenue for May is $2,000 above last year?s revenue. Bull Creek is about

$10,000 ahead of last year-to-date figures. Bull Creek averaged $6,500 per day

in revenue during the four-day Memorial Day ?08 weekend. Last year was Bull

Creek?s best year ever in revenues through the 21st of May and this year Bull

Creek is only a few thousand dollars short of that figure.

Richard Hagler adjourned the meeting at 4:23 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Wilkeson, Acting Secretary
