SUBJECT: Juvenile Drug Court Grant



INITIATED BY: Juvenile Drug Court





Recommendation: Approval is requested to submit an application and, if

approved, accept $25,000, or amount otherwise awarded, in grant funds from the

Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for operation of the Muscogee County

Juvenile Drug Court and amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the

grant award. Additional funding is available for the grant period of January

1, 2014 to June 30, 2014.



Background: The state of Georgia has funds available to fund Accountability

Courts through the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.



Analysis: The Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court is requesting funds for a

new grant funded case manager position.



Financial Considerations: The City is not required to provide matching funds

to participate in this grant program.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There will be no additional expenses

and no match requirement.



Legal Considerations: The Columbus Consolidated Government is eligible to

apply for additional funds from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.



Recommendations/ Actions: Authorize the City Manager to submit an application

and, if approved, accept additional grant funds of $25,00, or amount otherwise

awarded, from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the operation of

the Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court from January 1, 2014 to June 30, 2014

and to amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the grant award.









A RESOLUTION

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE

CRIMINAL JUSTICE COORDINATING COUNCIL FOR ADDITIONAL GRANT FUNDS TO SUPPORT THE

OPERATION OF THE MUSCOGEE COUNTY JUVENILE DRUG COURT AND IF AWARDED, AMEND THE

MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE AMOUNT OF THE GRANT AWARD. THERE IS NO LOCAL

MATCH REQUIREMENT AND THE GRANT PERIOD IS FROM JANUARY 1, 2014 TO JUNE 30,

2014.

WHEREAS, additional funds have been made available from the Criminal Justice

Coordinating Council for the Juvenile Drug Court from January 1, 2014 to June

30, 2014; and,

WHEREAS, funds are being made available to provide support for the operation of

the Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court; and,

WHEREAS, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council does not require a local

match.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application

and, if awarded, accept additional grant funding in the amount of $25,000 or

the amount otherwise awarded. for the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to

fund Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court for the period of January 1, 2014 to

June 30, 2014, with no local match requirement and to amend the

Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the grant award.
