Agenda Report # 323

TO: Mayor and Council

SUBJECT: 2052 Wynnton Road - Surplus Property

INITIATED BY: Department of Community Reinvestment

______________________________________________________________________________

Recommendation: Approval is requested to declare property at 2052 Wynnton Road

a/k/a 184 017 024, as surplus and authorize the sale of Parcel A 0.336 acres

+/- property in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia (see attached map).

Background: In the early 1980?s the City?s Transportation Improvement Program

(TIP) identified the need for improvement at the Brown Avenue / Wynnton Road

intersection (see tax map). The project was needed in order to improve both

the intersection operational characteristics and traffic flow on Wynnton Road.

The project having been completed has Parcel A having 0.336 acres +/- and

Parcel B having 0.067 acres +/- remaining. Parcel B will be used as a City

Landscaped Area.

Analysis: The property was acquired by the City, for use as an improvement to

the Brown Avenue / Wynnton Road intersection. With the project completed the

adjacent property owner would like to acquire Parcel A. The 0.067 acres +/- of

Parcel B will be used as a Landscaped Area for the City and remain with the

City. Subject property presently follows current area zoning guidelines.

Financial Considerations: The property will be sold at Fair Market Value. The

property and any related improvements would be returned to the tax digest

roles.

Legal Considerations: The property can be sold in accordance with Section 7-501

of the City Code. Property will be sold retaining easements for combination

utilities, storm and sanitation pipes.

Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the attached Resolution to declare 2052

Wynnton Road a/k/a 184 017 024 as surplus and to advertise and sell said

property in accordance with Section 7-501 of the city Code in Columbus,

Muscogee County, Georgia.
