Agenda Item # 3
Columbus Consolidated Government
Council Meeting
April 10, 2018
Agenda Report # 104
TO: Mayor and Council
SUBJECT: Alley Abandonment Quit Claim
INITIATED BY: Community Reinvestment Department
Recommendation: Approval is requested to execute a Quit Claim Deed to the
owner of 1511 50th Street (parcel #032 003 008) in Columbus, Georgia for a
portion of the alley located along the rear of said property (see attached
application and map).
Background: The owner of the property, William Kenny, wishes to expand his
business located at 1509 and 1511 50th Street by constructing a warehouse
adjacent to his current building. He is requesting the alleyway located behind
his property in order to have the space needed for a required detention area.
The owner of the parcels located on the other side of the alley signed a
document stating that they do not object to the abandonment of this alleyway.
Analysis: The Engineering Department has examined the alley and found that it
is not currently used for nor is it expected in the future to be needed for any
public purposes. The Department of Community Reinvestment finds that the City?s
interest in the alley has no appreciable monetary value
Financial Considerations: There is no financial obligation for the City.
Legal Considerations: All real estate transactions must be approved by City
Council.
Recommendations/Actions: Approval is requested to quit claim to the owner of

alley located along the rear of said properties.
