COLUMBUS CIVIC CENTER ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES

March 17, 2011



Board Members Present: Sam Wetzel, Sharon Pierce, Brian McCluskey,

Jonathan Smart, Jim Irvin, Walter Lewis, Mildred King,

Shondwella Ellis,

Interim Civic Center Director: Lisa Goodwin

Others Present: Ty Washington, Brian Giffin, Alfonzo

Moore, Robin Wallace, Lisa Thomas-Cutts, Jennifer McVay,

Meeting called to order at 10:30 am



Open Remarks: Sam

Welcomed and thanked everyone for coming. Sam had Board members introduce

themselves and state the district represented.

February 2011 Minutes approved as presented.



Finance: Jennifer

Finance reports were given to board members to review.

The Ice rink has been added to the Civic Center Budget. July 1st we will have

the Ice Rink budget.

Sam-suggested board members take the reports home to review and bring back

questions to the next meeting.

Lisa G-speaking on the loss for SEC, there were some concession made to get

them here. They have indicated that they want to make this SEC?s home for the

next few years.



Marketing: Robin

Went over upcoming events sheet.

Public skates end this month.

Cottonmouths will finish their regular season the 26th of March. Then go into

play-offs. No dates set at this time.

Spring fling is March 29 thru April 3rd. The big attraction is a BMX Stunt Show.

Jim- is public skate in the new rink? Robin- it is still here.

The Lions start their season March 27th with their home opener.



Operations: Brian

We have Spring Fling we are getting ready for. Cottonmouths finishing up their

season and Lion?s starting theirs.

We did the punch list at Ice Rink Monday.

Looking to finishing by end of March.

Should get carpet in Friday 3-25 and install on Monday 3-28.

Continuing work on beautification.



Box Office: Lisa

Getting ready for Spring Fling and we are working the talent show that Friday

as well. The Cottonmouths may have a playoff game on Friday or Saturday of

Spring Fling.

Getting ready for football opener.

Sam- do you have the same people? Lisa- I have added personal.



Centerplate Ty:

We are pushing for new items.

We are working on getting in compliance for the opening of the Ice Rink.

Directors Report Lisa Goodwin:

On the council?s agenda for Tuesday you will find the Lion?s contract. The

other thing you will see is approval for Ice Rink fees. Then it will go into

the budget.

Status of filling the position of Director. We have begun that process yet. We

probably have well over a hundred applications. We will be putting together a

panel for interviewing and hope to have a Director by July 1, 2011.

The Civic Center Director will be the one to hire the Ice Rink Manager.

There are no issues at the Civic Center everything is operating well. The staff

is running it and doing a great job.

Mildred- will there be any training at the Ice Rink? Lisa G- Lisa C and myself

went to Pelham and got a lot of information. We looked at programming.

We are looking at a mascot for the ribbon cutting.



Sam: Sam thanked everyone for coming and encouraged board members to come to an

event.
