SUBJECT: Georgia Power Easement at 3808 Rosemont Drive
INITIATED BY: Community Reinvestment Division
Recommendation: Approval is requested to grant an easement for use, access and
construction to Georgia Power Company onto the property located at 3808
Rosemont Drive, Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia for an amount of $28,500 to
install a power pole and utilities.
Background: Georgia Power desires an easement onto 3808 Rosemont Drive to
install a power pole and utilities on the property. This property was
quitclaimed to the City in 2000 by JW and Ethel Woodruff and is known as
Woodruff Park. The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) is installing
access lanes at the intersection of Woodruff Road & Warm Springs Road which is
requiring Georgia Power to relocate their poles with one being on this City
property located on the corner of Woodruff Road and Rosemont Drive.
Analysis: Georgia Power Company shall be solely responsible for all costs
related to any construction or maintenance activities it undertakes related to
the easement at no cost to the City. The easement will not interfere with the
current use of the property. Georgia Power will pay the City $28,500 for the
easement.
Financial Considerations: There is no financial obligation for the City.
Legal Considerations: The granting of an easement on City property to Georgia
Power Company requires the approval of Council.
Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the Resolution authorizing the City Manager
to grant a permanent easement to Georgia Power Company onto the property
located at 3808 Rosemont Drive, Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia for an
amount of $28,500 to install a power pole and utilities.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO GRANT AN EASEMENT TO
GEORGIA POWER COMPANY ONTO THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 3808 ROSEMONT DRIVE,
COLUMBUS, MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GEORGIA FOR AN AMOUNT OF $28,500 TO INSTALL A POWER
POLE AND UTILITIES.
WHEREAS, Georgia Power Company approached the City to request an
easement onto City property located at 3808 Rosemont Drive; and,
WHEREAS, the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) is installing
access lanes at the intersection of Woodruff Road & Warm Springs Road which is
requiring Georgia Power Company to relocate their poles; and,
WHEREAS, Georgia Power Company will pay the City $28,500 for the
easement; and,
WHEREAS, Georgia Power Company shall be solely responsible for all
costs related to any construction or maintenance activities it undertakes
related to the easement at no cost to the City; and,
WHEREAS, granting of an easement will not interfere with the current
use of the property.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to grant an easement to
Georgia Power Company onto the property located at 3808 Rosemont Drive,
Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia for $28,500 to install a power pole and
utilities.
