A RESOLUTION
No.
WHEREAS, Shaw High School graduate Edwin Jackson was recently selected to play
in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game;
WHEREAS, Jackson, a Detroit Tigers pitcher with a 2.59 ERA, put on a pitching
exhibition in the All-Star game as the American League beat the National League;
WHEREAS, Jackson led Shaw to claim the 2001 Georgia High School Association
Class AAAA state baseball championship;
WHEREAS, Jackson began his major league career on September 9, 2003 and won his
first outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks;
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Edwin Jackson are worthy of special recognition
by this Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA HEREBY RESOLVES:
We hereby commend and congratulate Edwin Jackson of the Detroit Tigers upon
being selected as one of the winning pitchers in the 2009 Major League Baseball
All-Star game. Columbus is proud of his accomplishments and we wish him every
success in the future. Let a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Edwin
Jackson.
