SUBJECT: Property Acquisition ? 3411 17th Avenue

Recommendation: Approval is requested to purchase 3411 17th Avenue a/k/a Tax
Map Parcel 030 010 032 for a Storm Sewer Replacement Project in Columbus,
Muscogee County, Georgia (see attached map).
Background: A Storm Sewer Replacement Project is needed to replace a failure
of a storm sewer pipe in the 17th Avenue area. The storm sewer is currently
running under the house and a failure of the pipe has occurred. The project
will consist of the demolition of the home, removal and replacement of the
storm sewer. As part of the project, the City must retain ownership of the
property in order to replace the storm sewer.
Analysis: Through good faith negotiations, the City and owner have agreed upon
a fair and equitable price for the property. Based upon appraised values, the
agreed upon price is $109,000. Upon completion of the project, the City will
advertise and sale said property.
Financial Considerations: The value of the property has been determined to be
$109,000. The Seller has agreed to accept payment from the City for the value
of the property. The City will pay all closing cost associated with the
purchase. Funds for the purchase of the property will be made from the CIP -
General Fund Supported Property Acquisition Account.
Legal Considerations: The purchase of property requires Council approval.
Recommendations/ Actions: Approve a Resolution for the purchase of 3411 17th
Avenue a/k/a Tax Map Parcel 030 010 032 for a Storm Sewer Replacement Project
in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF 3411 17TH AVENUE A/K/A TAX MAP PARCEL
030 010 032 FOR A STORM SEWER REPLACEMENT PROJECT IN COLUMBUS, MUSCOGEE COUNTY,
GEORGIA.
WHEREAS, 3411 17th Avenue a/k/a Tax Map Parcel 030 010 032 is to be purchased
as part of a Storm Sewer Replacement Project; and,
WHEREAS, it has been determined the price of $109,000 is fair and equitable;
and,
WHEREAS, the purchase of the property will be funded form the CIP-General Fund
Supported - Property Acquisition Account; and,
WHEREAS, upon completion of the project, the City will advertise and sale said
property; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus,
Georgia to purchase the property; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to purchase 3411 17th Avenue a/k/a
Tax Map Parcel 030 010 032 for the purchase price of $109,000 for a Storm Sewer
Replacement Project. The purchase of the property will be funded form the
CIP-General Fund Supported Property Acquisition Account. Upon completion of
the project, the City will advertise and sale said property.
