Commissioners Present: Susan Lawhorne, Chair, Bruce Smith, Secretary, Colin
Martin, Past Chair, Brian Plemmons, Bill Webster and Lee Brantley.
Commissioners Absent: Scott Ressmeyer, Vice-Chair, H.S. Guron, Treasurer and
Veola Hymes.
Ex-Officio Members Present: Larry Campbell, Mayor Poydasheff, Burnie Quick, Ed
Wilson,
Richard Bishop, John Shinkle, representing the Sports Council and Enoch Morris.
Ex-Officio Members Absent: Janice Davis, Dale Hester, Isaiah Hugley and Mike
Gaymon.
Staff Present: Peter Bowden, Shelby Guest and Linda Olvera.
Call To Order ? Susan Lawhorne called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m.
Special Presentation ? White Water Rafting with Bill Edwards, RiverKeeper.
Approval Of Minutes ? Mayor Poydasheff made a motion to accept the minutes of
the March 15, 2006 Board meeting. Lee Brantley seconded the motion. A vote
was taken and the motion passed.
Treasurer?s Report ? In the absence of H.S. Guron, Linda Olvera presented the
financial statements for approval. Lee Brantley made a motion to accept the
statements as presented. Bill Webster seconded the motion. A vote was taken
and the motion was passed.
Sales Report ? Presented by Peter Bowden

Black Heritage Visitors Guide ? the task force has met and are in the process
of reviewing the existing Black Heritage Visitors Guide
National Tourism Week?May 13th thru 21st
A proclamation will be presented to the CCVB at the May 16th City Council
meeting commemorating the hospitality industry in Columbus. (This will replace
the May business meeting.)
President-CEO Report ? Peter Bowden
Per Diem Update?Mayor Poydasheff has mailed letters to Senators Chambliss and
Isakson on behalf of the CCVB Board requesting their assistance to increase the
government per diem.
Ft. Benning Newcomers Tours ? Peachtree Mall has supplied the Visitors Center
with a listing of businesses offer a military discount; the CVB has produced a
rack card that will be distributed through the Visitors Center and also during
the Newcomers tour the CCVB participates in every month.
Web Site Stats ? The CVB?s web master has added a new function to track the use
of the visitcolumbusga.com web site; Staff is analyzing this data to help
determine how to use it for future marketing purposes
Top Ten Travel Trends (this report was distributed)
RTM Strategic Plan Research Update ? The CCVB will be meeting with Judy Randall
during May to review the research program progress to date.
New Discoveries Trade Show & FAM ? Peter Bowden and Shelby Guest participated
in the show along with 80 tour operators and travel writers; New Discoveries
was sponsored by the GDEcD. The CCVB sponsored the Columbus portion of the
post-FAM tour to include visits Port Columbus, Coca Cola Space Center, Springer
Opera House, and Columbus Museum. Staff hosted the group for dinner at
Country?s BBQ.
Presidential Debate ? A CSU task force, including the CCVB, has been formed and
initial contact has been made in preparation to bid for the 2008 Presidential
Debates.
