Subject: Columbus Aquatic Center Fees and Charges



Initiated By: Parks and Recreation Department





Recommendation: Authorize USA Pools to charge fees and charges associated with

operations of the Columbus Aquatic Center and as advised by the Columbus Parks

and Recreation Department.



Background: Resolution No. 49-13 authorized the procurement of aquatic

facility management services from USA Pools (Roswell, GA) to manage the

Columbus Aquatic Center, to include staffing, water maintenance, supervision

and programming; as well as pro-shop and concession management.



Financial Considerations: The City of Columbus, Georgia hired USA Pools to

manage the daily operations of the Columbus Aquatic Center. In order to off-set

management fees it is imperative that fees and charges be administered to

individuals that utilize the services and amenities at the Columbus Aquatic

Center.



Legal Considerations: Approval of Council is requested for the implementation

of fees and charges at the Columbus Aquatic Center.



Recommendation: Approve the resolution authorizing USA Pools to administer

the fees and charges associated with the Columbus Aquatic Center.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF FEES AND

CHARGES BY USA POOLS (ROSWELL, GA) AT THE COLUMBUS AQUATIC CENTER IN

CONSULTATION WITH THE COLUMBUS PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT.



WHEREAS, Columbus Aquatic Center is a 57,000 sq.ft. state-of-the-art facilities

that accommodates swimmers of all levels. The facility will offer a first

class experience with amenities to please everyone from the novice swimmer to

the advanced. Columbus Aquatic Center will focus on providing practice and

competition opportunities for swimmers of all abilities. There will be swim

lessons and other related water activities. The facility will have a concession

area that will provide a variety of drinks and foods for swimmers and visitors.

In addition, the Columbus Aquatic Center will maintain a stocked Pro-Shop and

rental space for meetings; and,



WHEREAS, all goods and services offered at the Columbus Aquatic Center will be

subjected to fees and charges as administered by USA Pools and advised by the

Columbus Parks and Recreation Department; and,



WHEREAS, USA Pools is dedicated to providing employees that are committed to

serving swimmers, both advanced and beginner. USA Pools will manage a facility

that will help all swimmers improve their skills. USA Pools will strive to make

each customer feel that they are important and will give each citizen value for

their dollar.



NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:



That the City Manager is hereby authorized to provide approval to USA Pools to

accept fees and charges in the form of cash, check, money order and credit card

from individuals for the purpose of goods and services received from the

Columbus Aquatic Center.
