SUBJECT: Benning Hills Tank Easement
INITIATED BY: Department of Community Reinvestment
Recommendation: Approval is requested to grant an easement to the Columbus
Water Works on property located at Benning Hills ? Land Lot, 15 7th District in
Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia. The easement requested is depicted on the
attachments with the easement area highlighted in yellow.
Background: Columbus Water Works (CWW) has plans to add altitude valves on
their Benning Hills tanks. There is insufficient room within the CWW property
and fence; CWW has to install one (Front Tank) outside the fence, which is City
Property. There are 3 existing water mains in this area also; CWW needs to
move the fence just past the water mains rather than placing it on top of
them.
Analysis: The installation of the Benning Hills tank easement will not
interfere with the current use of the property. The easement would be granted
with conditions as provided on the attachment.
Financial Considerations: N/A
Legal Considerations: The granting of an easement on City property to Columbus
Water Works requires the approval of Council.
Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the Resolution authorizing the City Manager
to grant an easement to Columbus Water Works on City property for a strip of
land for the purpose of constructing water mains located in Columbus, Muscogee
County, Georgia.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO GRANT AN EASEMENT TO COLUMBUS
WATER WORKS ON PROPERTY LOCATED BENNING HILLS ? LAND LOT, 15 7TH DISTRICT IN
COLUMBUS, GEORGIA.
WHEREAS, the Columbus Water Works would like to secure a Permanent easement
over and through a certain strip of land 55? feet wide and 175? feet long, more
or less on City property; and,
WHEREAS, the easement will be granted for the purpose of the construction and
maintaining water mains; and,
WHEREAS, installation of water mains will not interfere with the current use of
the property.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to grant a permanent easement for
Water Mains to Columbus Water Works located over and through a certain strip of
land 55? feet wide and 175? +/- feet long at Benning Hills ? Land Lots, 15 7th
District in Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia
