SUBJECT: Georgia Power Laydown Lease Agreement - 3321 Buena

Vista Road

Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a lease agreement

with the Georgia Power Company (GPC) for a laydown lease agreement at 3321

Buena Vista Road.



Background: GPC has plans to work on the Bull Creek Substation which is

located adjacent to 3321 Buena Vista Road, a parcel owned by the city. GPC

would need access to the site as soon as possible and continued access through

the end of January 2019. The site will be used to store cranes, bucket trucks,

materials, etc. while working on the substation and a fence would be installed

to protect the GPC construction equipment/materials. The fence would be

removed once the substation project and restoration efforts are complete.



Analysis: The site is currently vacant and is suitable for this proposed

short-term lease for the purpose of servicing the adjacent electrical

substation.



Financial Considerations: Standard lease agreement total costs of $10.00 are

recommended for this project.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There are no annual fiscal impact

costs anticipated with this agreement



Legal Considerations: The City Attorney has reviewed this proposed lease

agreement and has approved.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approval is requested to enter into a lease agreement

A RESOLUTION

NO. _____



A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH

GEORGIA POWER TO LEASE VACANT PROPERTY AT 3321 BUENA VISTA ROAD FOR THE PURPOSE

OF ESTABLISHING A LAYDOWN AREA.

WHEREAS, the above mentioned property is vacant and owned exclusively by the

Columbus Consolidated Government; and,

WHEREAS, Georgia Power will be upgrading its power substation at 3343 Buena

Vista Road, which is immediately adjacent to the city owned property; and,

WHEREAS, Georgia Power has a need for a laydown area to store their equipment

and materials while the upgrade to the station is being performed.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a lease agreement with

Georgia Power to lease the vacant city owned property at 3321 Buena Vista Road

for a period of nine (9) months, to establish a laydown area for equipment and

materials associated with the work needed to be performed on the adjacent power

substation.
